Race Times: Events will be on
Thursday nights, Practice beginning at 8:15 EST, Qualify at 9:15 EST,
and a 10 minute Happy Hour. The race distance is 50% of the
Winston Cup race.
-
Schedule: We will
follow the current Winston Cup schedule with one modification. The
only modification to the 2004 schedule is that the Sept 16th race at
Loudon, New Hampshire has been moved up to race #3, Feb 26th, following
Rockingham and preceding Las Vegas. Before this change, the races
went like this: 2 races, OFF WEEK, 5 races, OFF WEEK, 4 races, 2 weeks
of Special Events, 7 races, OFF WEEK, then 18 races to the finish. The
change allows for a greater distribution of the races over the full
season, seen as follows: 8 races, OFF WEEK, 4 races, 2 weeks of Special
Events, 7 races, OFF WEEK, 8 races, OFF WEEK, then 9 races to the
finish. Race schedule and start times can be found

-
Weather:
Weather will be set to Realistic. If the server has to be reset at any time (which I hope
don't happen and will not make a habit of doing), I will
reset the server however many times is needed to get the weather plus or
minus 2 degrees of what it was before the reset. The wind and sky will
not be considered.
-
Rules: Will follow the standard set of
STRL RULES AND
GUIDELINES. Racing back to line is permitted, but I EXPECT the
gentlemen's agreement will be upheld. If not, more drastic and, as
of yet, undefined measures may be taken in the future.
-
Provisionals: Each
driver is allowed 1 substitution. This will be considered a provisional.
More about this on the
PROVISIONAL PAGE.
Each driver starts the season with four(4) and earns one more after
their 8th, 16th, 24th, and 32nd ATTEMPTED race
-
LPIP System:
Miminimal changes to the 2003 Challenger LPIP. It does have a higher
point value on certian penalties, but there are more laps to overcome
this increase, just like last year. Details on
LPIP PAGE.
-
Server Issues: In the event of a
server crash, meet in EAST LEAGUE DISCUSSION 1. We will attempt to shorten the
race to the number of laps remaining if it is more than half of the
scheduled distance. If it is less than half, or we cannot continue
the race, it will be a rainout. The schedule is full so make-up
events are unlikely to occur.
-
Race Awards: The following awards
will be verbally, not physically, given in following each race.
Bud Pole to driver who wins the pole. Race Winner to the driver
who wins the race. Halfway Leader to the driver who is leading at
halfway. If the race is under caution at halfway, it will be the
leader at the completion of the FIFTH (5) consecutive green flag lap
after halfway. Hard Charger to the driver who improves the most
positions from qualifying to finishing position. Goody's Headache
to driver that lost the most positions from qualifying to finishing
position. Fastest Lap to the driver who turns the
fastest lap in the race.
-
Notes of Interest: Any changes in
NASCAR policy will be evaluated and may affect STRL Challenger Division.
These changes include point system, format of special events, rules,
race procedures, and any other changes.
We will run the 2004 Bud Shootout as a Special Event. Also, A Qualifier,
Qualifying, and All-Star Race will be run again this year (formerly
known as The Winston).
