Six Charger Busch cars start Race #36 for the 2004 Charger
Busch season. Anthony Wendover (#26) won his 3rd pole in the
last 4 weeks by edging out Ron Henson (#97). The final event
would decide the Session 4 Championship. Henson (#97) held a
25 point lead on Wendover (#26) going into the event.
Anthony Wendover (#26) leads the field early on
and lead here on Lap 10.
Mike Richter (#62) passes Terry Riggins (#68)
on Lap 15 as Riggins (#68) decides to pit under green in Turn 4.
Riggins (#68) would get a black flag for entering the pits in Turn 4
rather than using the access road.
On Lap 15, John Hajek (#13) takes the
lead from Anthony Wendover (#26) down the backstretch.
Jeff Bratcher (#79) leads for a lap on Lap 34 while he is
pitting.
On Lap 49, Anthony Wendover (#26) enters pits a bit too hot and
has to slide the car to avoid a speeding penalty down pit road.
A scary moment for Point leader Ron Henson (#97) would occur with
only 13 laps left. While running in 2nd place just 14 seconds
behind the leader, Henson (#97) would overshoot his pit-stall, blow
out his reverse gearing and would have to go around the track again
to enter his stall. The incident would cost him 3 laps and 10
valuable session points!
John Hajek (#13) wins his division leading 6th race of 2004. The
race was caution-free! He would lead for 78 of the total
94 laps. Anthony Wendover (#26) would finish 2nd and gained 10
points on Session leader Ron Henson (#97); but Henson (#97) would
finish 4th and hold onto the Session 4 Championship winning by
a mere 25 points!
