The 2006 Roadrunner Rookie of the Year

         In 2006, the 2006 Tribute Cup Rookie Points Championship will be being kept separate

from the Season Championship Point Standings and is the same as was used in 2005. This format is very similar to the method that NASCAR Nextel Cup uses to determine their Rookie of the Year.

ELIGIBILITY

2006 Road Runner Rookies are drivers who have not raced in more than 10 Road Runner events

     in any given previous Tribute Cup Season.

SCORING SYSTEM

The rookie point system is determined by the following:

1.   Only the driver's best 17 races are counted in head-to-head competition. 

In other words, where rookies finish in relation to other rookies.

2.   One point is awarded for each race in which a rookie of the year candidate

qualifies and is eligible for championship points.

3.   A 10 thru 1 point system is in place for the rookies according to where they finish

in the race in relation to the other rookies. The highest finishing rookie in

each race earns 10 points; the second highest finishing rookie

earns nine points, and so on.

4.   At the end of a Session, if a rookie becomes the Session Champion, the rookie

will receive 10 bonus Rookie points. If he finishes in the standings in

fifth, the rookie receives 6 bonus Rookie points.

If the rookie finishes the Session in 10th, he

receives one bonus Rookie point.  The same 10 thru 1 system.

5.  At the end of the year, the rookie with the highest point total from this system

will win the 2006 Road Runner Rookie of the Year.
